Getting to Brno
Flying to Brno
- Brno has a small airport with regular flights from Prague and London: http://www.airport-brno.cz/index.php?id=0&lang=en
- take the bus 76 from the airport to main train station (Hlavni nadrazi) - see below for the tickets.
- taxis also offer affordable transportation within Brno (Brno's taxi-drivers have much better reputation than their colleagues in Prague)
Flying to Prague

- Czech Airlines buses are going directly from Prague airport to Brno. Your travel agency should be able to book them directly with your flight ticket, or use: http://www.csa.cz/en/czechia/cz_home.htm?userLanguage=en
- a convenient way is to take train from Prague, see below for schedules, there are shuttles named "Airport Express" from the airport to the railway station Praha Holesovice.
- there are other direct buses that can not be booked online, when at the airport, check with Student Agency counter.
If you're already in Prague (ACL conference, etc.)
- go to http://www.vlak.cz/connform.asp?tt=a&cl=E5 and enter just 'Praha' for From and 'Brno' for To. It's better to check the "direct" button.
- take the line A of Metro
- depending on where you depart from, you'll go to Main Station (Hlavni nadrazi), Bus station (Florenc) or Station Praha Holesovice (Nadrazi Praha Holesovice)
Flying to Vienna
Getting to Hotel Continental after arrival in Brno
- Hotel Continental is conveniently located near the center of the city, see http://www.mapy.cz/?query=id%3Apremise%20327864&mapType=base for zoomable map.
- Brno has an efficient public transport system, see http://www.dpmb.cz/e3.asp - click "Connections" and enter the names of stops you want to go from and to.
- from main train station (Hlavni nadrazi) to Hotel Continental: take tram No. 1 in front of the station, direction Reckovice. Get off at stop 'Antoninska'. To reach the hotel, take the street Antoninska (a bit back from the stop, left-hand side), and go uphill ~300 m. When you reach a small park, turn left. The hotel is in front of you.
- from bus station (autobusove nadrazi, hotel Grand): go ~200m to the main train station (you'll see it from the bus station), proceed according to the previous point.
- tickets for public transport in Brno: get 13 Kc tickets in a Tobacco shop (Tabak) or yellow vending machines at stops - they are good for almost all travels within Brno. Stamp them once in a tram, bus or trolleybus. Tickets can be bought also from drivers but you need exact change and they're a bit more expensive.
